It all began with this little snippet in the Vineyard Gazette in September of 1990. My daughter Deb likes Harry Connick Jr and I’m a huge fan of Carly Simon, I have been even before I knew of her Vineyard connection. This seemed like a perfect weekend getaway for us but how could I manage to get tickets when I live in NJ and they were only on sale on the Vineyard !
I did it. I was determined and when it involves the Vineyard my determination is un-stoppable. So off we went. There were a few glitches along the way concerning MV accommodations and ferry reservations so we decided to stay in Falmouth on the mainland and just go to the Vineyard for the day of the concert.
It was a spectacular September Sunday afternoon on the Vineyard, the Campground was filled with happy concertgoers bustling around.

Now that we are quickly heading into fall, and I’ve finished my Shepherd sweater, I’ve been itching to cast on some fun new knitting projects. I’ve got several in mind, and I’d like to work something up for each of my girls, but until I decide what to pick for them, I’ve got another pair of socks started.
The yarn is from last year’s Sock Club, in my favorite colorway, “Susan’s Stuffed Pumpkin”. I’m knitting the “Little Pumpkins” pattern again, just because it seemed so fitting!
The socks will be my portable project, and something I can work on when I need something easy and a bit mindless (since I’ve done them before I can kind of knit this pattern on autopilot).
My more ambitious next project is the new Shepherd Sweater (but of course!) from Pam Wynne.
I am SO looking forward to casting it on!
Along with all this knitting I’ve been baking like a madperson. I am just so ready for fall and all of its yummy treats.
One recipe I’m excited about is Susan’s Best Cinnamon Rolls Ever from By Hand Magazine. I’ve made them several times now and I CAN’T. GET. ENOUGH.
The great thing about this recipe is that not only is it luxuriously delicious, it is super straight-forward and easy to make. AND you can freeze them and them bake when you’re ready.
Perfect for chillier mornings!

Clinton, New Jersey, a picturesque town set in Hunterdon County isn’t far from where I live and so daughter Deb and her dog Chappy and I set off to explore a bit. Clinton is most recognized by the iconic picture of the red mill… it pops up on many NJ websites, calendars and is a favorite subject for artists and photographers.
First up, as always on a Saturday is coffee. We found a cute little place by the river and settled down to relax and enjoy the scenery. Chappy even made a new friend.
We walked over the bridge to the other side of the river to get pictures of the Red Mill and the Stone Mill which is now the Hunterdon Art Museum for Craft and Design…
Outside the museum is a chalk board wall, how clever is that…
One last picture of the Red Mill.
Another nice outing exploring the beauty and charm of New Jersey :)
