Weekly Challenge: Dinnertime…

 Prompt this week is to share an image inspired by dinnertime — whether you take a photo of food or simply shoot during the evening hours is up to you!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Harken back to the 17th century for the preparation for the evening meal at Plimouth Plantation — Plymouth, MA.  This picture was taken Oct 2015.
Weekly Challenge: Landscape …
For this week’s challenge, share a photo of a landscape: a wide establishing shot of a scene in nature or an urban setting. Landscape photography is typically displayed in a horizontal orientation.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I have 3 choices for landscape.

A snippet of landscape through the door of a Martha’s Vineyard lighthouse…

A picture of Milford, Pennsylvania taken from High Point Monument in New Jersey… you can see three states from the monument, the highest point in NJ.

Weekly Challenge: State of Mind …

The prompt this week is to share an image where you see a particularly strong connection between what we see and what you felt as you pressed that shutter button on your camera.   I thought about this for a few days and decided that instead of showing photos that depicted my state of mind I would share where my mind goes when it needs to be elsewhere.  When I need to relax, day dream, recollect memories or just pretend I’m there… that place is Martha’s Vineyard and if you read my other blog www.mvobsession.com  you’ll know that it is where my heart and soul reside.

This collage pretty much describes my almost constant state of mind :)

pizap.com14567053934051I had to add these two pictures from a visit to the Grounds For Sculpture in New Jersey that I thought were whimsical.

Weekly Challenge: Optimistic …

The prompt this week is show us something you’re optimistic about, or perhaps a talisman that helps you stay positive and hopeful, regardless of what life (and the weather!) throws your way.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I wasn’t sure what I wanted to post a photo of.  Thought about flowers and animals, the preparations for a lovely meal… and then i started looking at tulips which are my favorite flower and I realized that they make me happy and therefore optimistic.  I cropped this picture so the flowers are off center just to make it more interesting to me.   Hope you like it.
Weekly Challenge: Alphabet …
This week, let the alphabet be your inspiration: find a string of letters. Try a multi-photo gallery to collect images of single characters. Find some beautiful typography, or look for letters hidden in natural forms. I’m excited to see your ABCs!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

One of my choices for a photo of the alphabet is this ABC picture about Martha’s Vineyard which is my favorite place.  http://www.mvobsession.com

Another alphabet choice are these books I saw in a store, I’m not in favor of destroying books but  these were meant to be book ends, which is kind of  an interesting turn of events as this is the end for these books :)

Weekly Challenge: Circle …

The prompt for Circle …..With 2016 officially here, we face forward to take on what’s next. It’s a time of endings and beginnings, so I wanted a broad theme that could be simple, fun, and festive, but also complex and introspective. And so, circle it is.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My choice for the topic Circle… is Stonehenge which is located in southern England, it is comprised of roughly 100 massive upright stones placed in a circular layout.  For centuries, historians and archaeologists have puzzled over the many mysteries of Stonehenge, the prehistoric monument that took Neolithic builders an estimated 1,500 years to erect. CLICK HERE to learn more about Stonehenge which I found to be very interesting.
Weekly Challenge: Now …
This week’s prompt: ……Sometimes, we get caught up in nostalgia, future fantasy, or both, and we don’t embrace the “now.” For this week’s challenge, take a moment to notice your present, and share a photo of it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

My choice for “now” is Christmas morning which is today.

Weekly Challenge: Gathering …

The prompt for gathering is:  Share with us your interpretation of “gathering.” It could be your entire family decked out in ugly holiday sweaters. It could be a group of seagulls strutting down the beach. Perhaps it’s a basket of fresh herbs you’ve collected from your garden for that awesome pasta dish this evening.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My choice for the prompt, gathering is this gaggle of geese gathered in a field, a rest stop on their way south.  This was taken a couple of Decembers ago when New Jersey was having winter in December and snow on the ground, not spring in December like this year when things are starting to bloom :)
Weekly Challenge: Oops…
Weekly challenge prompt:  This week, share a photographic “Oops!” moment with us. The fiasco could be what’s in the picture: anything broken, jumbled, or otherwise cringe-worthy (ugly sweaters are encouraged!).  Or it could be something in the photo-taking itself, from the tip of your finger ruining a meticulously framed panorama to an inopportune shadow messing up a family portrait.
Go funny, or serious, or go with a mixture of both —
*~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~*
This photo is my oops moment…
Before I had a digital camera I was taking pictures of the Gay Head cliffs at Aquinnah, on Martha’s Vineyard.  It was mid-February and the beach was covered with rocks and stones.  It was mid-February, about 28 degrees, I had gloves on accidentally caused the camera to open for a split second.  I hurried to the camera shop to see if I had lost all my pictures and when they were developed this was the picture I had taken just before the camera opened.   My oops picture turned into an ‘oooh picture’.. I love it
The picture below was taken near the same spot a day later…
