This week the challenge is to embrace the season: share an image that embodies the world or the weather where you live.Share an image that expresses the seasonality of life.

My first inclination was to share photos of flowers because in the midst of February flowers blooming and things greening and the change of season is greatly looked forward to.

But.

This picture, taken in NYC a few yers ago,  definitely says change of season to me.

Weekly Challenge: Time …

The prompt is to think about time and portray it photographically.  Perhaps you have a fascination with clocks. Or maybe contemplating time takes you somewhere else completely.

This is my granfather Charles’s pocket watch.  He died in 1910 and I’m not sure how long he had this pocket watch but it’s safe to say it’s over 100 years old.

For many years the watch sat in my jewelry box untouched.  Recently I took it out and wound it and it began ticking… it was missing hands though.

IMG_1091New hands, new pocket watch chain, thorough cleaning and the watch is keeping time once again.  Actually that’s not entirely true, Charles the watch doesn’t always keep the correct time every day… seems Charles is having a bit of a good time teasing us.

It’s okay that Charles the pocket watch is ticking to its own time… sort of goes along with this wall clock of mine that cares not what time it is :)

My choice for vibrant is a photo of Times Square in New York City.  The colors, the crowds, the noises… it all adds to the vibrancy of what they call the ‘crossroads’ of the world..

The prompt this week is show us something you’re optimistic about, or perhaps a talisman that helps you stay positive and hopeful, regardless of what life (and the weather!) throws your way.

I wasn’t sure what I wanted to post a photo of.  Thought about flowers and animals, the preparations for a lovely meal… and then i started looking at tulips which are my favorite flower and I realized that they make me happy and therefore optimistic.  I cropped this picture so the flowers are off center just to make it more interesting to me.   Hope you like it.

Weekly Challenge: Circle …

The prompt for Circle …..With 2016 officially here, we face forward to take on what’s next. It’s a time of endings and beginnings, so I wanted a broad theme that could be simple, fun, and festive, but also complex and introspective. And so, circle it is.

My choice for the topic Circle… is Stonehenge which is located in southern England, it is comprised of roughly 100 massive upright stones placed in a circular layout.  For centuries, historians and archaeologists have puzzled over the many mysteries of Stonehenge, the prehistoric monument that took Neolithic builders an estimated 1,500 years to erect. Weekly Challenge: Gathering …

My choice for the prompt, gathering is this gaggle of geese gathered in a field, a rest stop on their way south.  This was taken a couple of Decembers ago when New Jersey was having winter in December and snow on the ground, not spring in December like this year when things are starting to bloom :)
