Alas, as I am late making this post, I'm mostly just offering a list for posterity. I'm including Ravelry links for projects that are detailed there, even if they have been documented on the blog or worn in last year's MMM line-up. And I don't know what happened on the final three days because I forgot to record what I wore. Will try harder when May 2018 rolls around!

Subscribing to a wellbeing and wellness blog can be extraordinary compared to other things you can do to help you in realizing what is happening in the wellness world. There are many out there for you to look over. Web wellness is presently more than just individuals instructing you to purchase their projects. There is currently how to recordings, instructional discussions, free work out regimes and significantly more out there for you to scrutinize on your journey for information.
Extraordinary compared to other approaches to get this Internet wellness data is to agree to accept a rss channel from a wellbeing and wellness blog. A considerable lot of the better destinations will enable you to join through your preferred rss peruser and see whats new on the site. You can check it when you please and the best part is you don’t need to go clicking around to discover it. You essentially discover two or three locales that you like and have them send their rss channels to you. You get their wellbeing and wellness blog at whatever point and wherever you need.
Another incredible approach to get the data sent straightforwardly to you is to agree to accept a wellbeing and wellness bulletin. Agreeing to accept a locales pamphlet is normally an exceptionally basic thing, all they require is your name and email address. At that point each week or two they will send you an email with what they believe is some applicable data that you will appreciate.
In the previous one of the greatest thumps on pamphlets was many individuals were pitching their rundown to spammers. You however you had agreed to accept a pamphlet on wellness and all the sudden you get a pack of email on the most proficient method to broaden your masculinity, or an email disclosing to you won 5 million euros. There have been some real changes in Internet law and a lot of this has halted. I for one have a place with around 8 or 9 bulletins and my spam envelope doesn’t get any messages. This is a major change from two or three years back.
The Internet is a fabulous instrument. Nowadays there are some fabulous approaches to get data straightforwardly sent to you through a wellbeing and wellness blog or bulletin. There is another day in age coming up in the wellness world, one that I call the Internet wellness rejuvenation. The new data that is turning out is both applicable and right, a great deal not quite the same as the poor data that was scattered all finished only a couple of short years back.

Let’s revisit one of my favorite old posts, shall we? One that explores what is still my favorite analogy for Civility.
I have a book called Civility: Manners, Morals, and the Etiquette of Democracy by Stephen L. Carter. It talks about the collapse of basic manners, how they have “become a casualty of our postmodern culture.” You already know that this is one of my favorite themes, and, in fact, I recommend this book quite a bit.
He opens the book with an analogy which has become a favorite of mine. About how, in the 19th century, people travelled in groups because only the very rich could afford to travel alone. He says,
“Well, of course: to travel so far together, packed shoulder to shoulder like chess pieces in their little box, everybody had to behave or the ride would become intolerable. Everyone followed the rules for the sake of their fellow passengers, and they did so, as one historian has noted, out of a spirit of self-denial and the self-sacrifice of one’s own comfort for another’s.”
There was, you understand, a sense of “we’re all in this together.” Everybody was crowded, everybody had to endure the same discomforts of travel, but everybody collectively gritted their teeth because that was the only way it was bearable, by working together to keep it as civilized as possible. He goes on to say,
“But nowadays we have automobiles, and we travel both long and short distances surrounded by metal and glass and the illusion that we are travelling alone. The illusion has seeped into every crevice of our public and private lives, persuading us that sacrifices are no longer necessary. If railroad passengers a century ago knew the journey would be impossible unless they considered the comfort of others more important than their own, our spreading illusion has taken us in the other direction. We care less and less about our fellow citizens, because we no longer see them as our fellow passengers. We see them as obstacles or competitors, or we may not see them at all.”
This is such a brilliant observation, don’t you think? How often have you walked down the street and seen other people listening to iPods, talking on cellphones, completely caught up in their own, private worlds? I often count myself lucky if they’re paying enough attention not to walk into me as they wander along. People go shopping in their pajamas; they think nothing of cutting in line. They meander across parking lots, never glancing over their shoulders to see if there’s a car coming. Because, of course, the world revolves around them. Not only are they not travelling with the rest of us, they’re riding a float in their own little parade, condescendingly waving to the crowd.
Not everyone does this, naturally. (I’m sure you don’t.) Most of the people I know have, at some time or another, shaken their heads when witnessing behaviors such as these, just because they’re not normal behaviors. In fact, many people do check for cars before stepping into a roadway, or thoughtfully hold doors for other people. It’s just the fact that these annoying, selfish behaviors seem to become more common all the time that’s so worrying.
Because, really, we ARE all travelling through this life together. Don’t we owe it to our fellow passengers to make the ride as easy as possible? ride as easy as possible?

First, the facts:
Title: Stunning Stitches: 21 Shawls, Scarves, and Cowls You’ll Love to Knit
Author: Jen Lucas
Published by: Martingale, 2017
Pages: 96
Type: Shawls, scarves, and cowls
Chapters:
No chapters, just patterns
The In-Depth Look:
The author writes, “As a designer, I’m constantly inspired by the stitch patterns that fill the stitch dictionaries on my bookshelves. The patterns are so beautiful, interesting, and thought-provoking, I can spend hours poring over them, searching for just the right pattern for my design. The hardest (and perhaps saddest) part of designing is that many times I use a stitch pattern only once … It feels like it’s gone forever.”
I can relate to this.
There are so many great stitch patterns out there, there’s never going to be enough time to try them all, and so you pick and choose, use one, and then move on. No time to dawdle! So many stitches to try!
This is why I like the concept of this book. The designer forced herself to slow down. She picked seven different stitch patterns and then came up with three different designs for each of them.
All the patterns are meant to be worn around the neck as a shawl, scarf, or cowl, which makes this practical. You can always use more accessories, right?
The patterns sometimes use the stitch all-over, sometimes just as an accent, and sometimes a little of both. I like the fact that she had to push herself for these, finding new, inventive ways to re-use the same stitch.
It’s a good exercise for all of us, I think. Just because you’ve found one use for a beautiful stitch, why stop there? And if the author can help you push the edge by giving you three different patterns for each creative stitch? So much the better.
You can find this book at Amazon or at your local bookshop.

Extraordinary compared to other wellbeing and wellness tips is working out. Running for 20 minutes a day is an extraordinary approach to help your physical and psychological wellness, and to kick it into high gear on getting thinner. When you go running, you discharge exceptional chemicals in your mind called “endorphins” that improve you feel. These are known as the “vibe great” chemicals as they advance wellbeing and prosperity.
Hurrying to get more fit is an incredible methodology that I exceedingly suggest you doing. It’s all regular and doesn’t require a medicine, so you can escape – no specialist endorsement is required. I think we’ve all observed the energy of rushing to get in shape. I’ve seen my cousin for instance. She used to be huge, however now she’s as thin as a needle, and it’s all because of her running.
Something else that you can improve the situation your wellbeing and wellness is to go on a decent eating regimen design. Concoct a few vegetables and eat organic products that will improve you feel. One of the most straightforward approaches to get your servings of products of the soil is to get them prepackaged from the market.
Along these lines, you don’t need to cut up anything or place anything in a plate – it’s altogether improved the situation you. Getting your foods grown from the ground in a will cost you more since they’re prepackaged for you, yet this is quite often more than justified, despite all the trouble. Getting appropriate foods grown from the ground are essential for your wellbeing and wellness so remember that.
Another incredible wellbeing and wellness tip to take after is to subscribe to a couple of weight reduction and muscle magazines. I used to be an individual from Muscle and Fitness Magazine. It’s a magazine exclusively devoted towards helping individuals to manufacture muscle. Despite the fact that I’m not an endorser now, at whatever point I see one of these magazines, I promptly go and look through it. It’s an awesome wellspring of motivation.
Wellbeing and wellness are two themes that are generally discussed on the web however not many individuals know how to approach getting extraordinary wellbeing and being physically fit. For a few people, these 2 regions are difficult to manage and are hard to understand. In any case, with the correct direction, I figure you can have the sort of weight reduction achievement that you long for.
So move on your eating regimen design and begin getting in shape today. On the off chance that weight reduction isn’t your essential objective however it’s to enable develop some hard, shelter muscle, make sure to begin today arranging out your prosperity.

Vineyard stories about friends…
Let’s begin with the two friends who pretty much started the Vineyard connection in my family. My mother Maude Freeman (on right) and her best friend Bertha Carter Jones (on left).

Childhood friends on the Vineyard, they graduated in 1926 from Oak Bluffs High School (pre-regional high school). After graduation they moved to Newark, NJ and it was there that they met their future husbands.. who were also childhood friends.
My dad Al Freeman on the left, Bill Jones on the right.

They grew up together in Newark, NJ and remained friends their entire lives. The best times they had were on the Vineyard when both of our families were there for the entire summer.
For many years Bertha & Bill Jones owned a bowling alley in Oak Bluffs across from the Flying Horses. They did not have automated pin setters so the pins had to be set by hand, I even did it from time to time myself.
Then along came Will Jones and me… not only best friends because our parents were but because we knew each other from early childhood. How early you wonder ? We were only a few months old when we met, Will is a month older than me by the way and I never let him forget it… even now

The above picture has to be around 1947 or 48, it was during the month or so that I was taller than Will.

Will and I were always looking for things to keep us busy and out of trouble. Someone showed me how to make little flowers by using yarn and forks… I immediately showed Will. We set about our tasks, me at my house, he at his.
The next morning Will’s mom called my mom asking if he was at my house ? Seems she went looking for a fork and couldn’t find any !!! A few minutes later Will was at my door, and yes, he had all his mother”s forks with him and they were filled with yarn. Seems I had neglected to show him ow to get the yarn off the forks to make the little flowers.Oopsie.
Will had carried those forks from his house on the other side of Oak Bluffs by the harbor.. up Circuit Ave to my house where we freed his mother’s forks of their yarn. I have no recollection of what we did with the yarn flowers.
Last but not least, my daughter Deb and her best friend of 42 years, Dawn Green.
Dawn & Deb, July 1984 (Falmouth, Ma)

Dawn and Deb, May 2017 (Cape May, NJ)

In July 1984 I took the girls to Martha’s Vineyard, just the three of us. The trip was a new experience in that I’d never been away alone with two teenagers and I had never driven to MV by myself.
We did a lot of things together but the girls also spent time doing their own things while I did mine. It was a nice mix to togetherness and apartness (is that even a word)!
Aquinnah to see the cliffs.

Out for fancy dinner one night.

One incident that sticks out in my mind is dinner one night at the Wharf Pub & Restaurant in Edgartown. We ate early and the restaurant was almost empty. We were in the middle of our meal when our waitress came over and said…”you might want to eat slowly as Billy Joel & Christie Brinkley are on their way in and I thought the girls might get a kick out of seeing them!” THE GIRLS… forget the girls, I was the one getting all excited. So we nibbled and waited and waited and waited and then THEY walked past the window next to our table and entered the restaurant. As we left the restaurant and walked past their table Billy Joel smiled and waved at us. We giggled all the way back to the hotel.
Whether with family or friends, Vineyard memories are always extra special.
❤
